Thinking of joining us for one of our holiday or summer dance camps? Read below for more details about our camps. When you're ready to register, click the button!
Overview
JWSD camps are open to kids ages 3-12 years old and typically are Monday-Friday from 10am-3pm.
Our camps are loosely organized to keep the kids entertained and learning while also allowing them to influence what we do day to day. From voting on favorite games to helping their counselors plan and decorate for the end of the week performance, our campers will come home from the studio tired from fun and not burned out on hyper-structured and overpacked schedules.
Camp Fees
Our camps are $350/week for one child. We offer half days ($175/10:00am-12:30pm) and sibling discounts!
There are additional hours available for before camp (8-10am) and after camp (3-5pm), each an additional $60/week.
A $100 deposit is due upon enrollment in a camp and saves your campers spot for that week. This deposit is non-refundable and is deducted from your total camp fees. All camp fees must be paid by the Friday before the week of camp begins to maintain your campers' place.
Camp cancellation may occur due to low enrollment. We will provide notice if your camp is at risk of cancelation 7-14 days before the camp is set to begin. In the instance of cancellation, all fees/deposits are credited to your JWSD account or refunded based on your preference.
Health/Safety Rules & Policies
Preparing for Camp
Please send your camper in comfortable active wear and close toed shoes, as we sometimes do outdoor activities, e.g., sidewalk chalking, bubble blowing, etc. We do not recommend dance clothes for camp! Packing dance shoes is optional; we may use them in certain dance routines/classes, but we have plenty at the studio that campers can borrow.
Food & Drink
Your camper should bring a water bottle, lunch, and snack. We recommend packing both a lunch and a snack in case your kiddo gets more hungry than usual from the extra exercise. It's better to send a little more than you think they'll eat (especially packaged food items that can be repurposed for future lunches); we encourage campers to eat until full and not until they've finished all their food.
If your camper has any food allergies or problems finishing meals please let us know ahead of time.
Activities
Kids will do activities within their age group and together with all the campers. We encourage the older campers to take leadership roles within the camp and help their peers and the younger campers when needed.
Typically we do one craft a day, though not all of them are meant to come home the same day, e.g., nametags for cubbies or show decorations. We will sometimes offer different crafts to different age groups.
The special activity mentioned on the daily schedule refers to a non-craft activity that is relevant to the camp theme, e.g., watching a clip from a musical, reading a book together, doing an experiment.
End of Camp
Our performance is on Friday at 3:00pm for week long camps, and typically includes dance routines, gymnastics skills, acting skits, or a favored group game. Expect it to take about 30 minutes total with the performance itself closer to 15. Note: For camps shorter than 5 days, there is no camp show.
